A Bill to increase compensation for workplace fatalities

The Hon Bill Johnston MLA Minister for Commerce and Industrial Relations released a media statement on 12 June 2017 publicly announcing the development of a Bill to amend the Workers’ Compensation and Injury Management Act 1981.

The Bill is intended to increase lump sum compensation for dependants and increase the weekly allowance paid to support dependent children. The Bill will also address equality of access for de facto partners and married spouses and simplify and streamline the process for dependants making compensation claims.
