Changes to audiometric equipment approval standards

WorkCover WA currently approves audiometric equipment based on the criteria set within Australian/New Zealand Standard – Occupational Noise Management Part 4: Auditory Assessment, AS/NZS 1269.4 1998.

This Standard was updated in 2005 and 2014.

WorkCover WA views Standards as living documents, reflecting progress in science, technology and systems.

As of 1 January 2023, WorkCover WA will be approving audiometric equipment based on the latest version of the Standard – AS/NZS 1269.4:2014.

Please review AS/NZS 1269.4 2014 to ensure compliance from the date specified.

WorkCover WA approvals under the 1998 version of the Standard will still apply until 1 January 2023. Please note audiometric equipment which is calibrated under Standard AS/NZS 1269.4 1998 (prior to 1 Jan 2023) will not require recalibration under the 2014 Standard until it is due for renewal.

Please note: Updated versions of the relevant WorkCover WA forms and resources will be available for download from 1 January 2023 via http://www.workcover.wa.gov.au.
