New Physiotherapy Treatment Management Plan

A revised and improved Physiotherapy Treatment Management Plan (TMP) has been published by WorkCover WA.

The TMP is an important communication tool. It provides clarity about future treatment options for workers who are likely to require more than ten physiotherapy consultations. It also provides insurers and self-insurers with a mechanism to determine whether the treatment and costs are reasonable under the workers’ compensation legislation.

Key changes to the TMP see it align with the principles contained in the Clinical Framework for the Delivery of Health Services and require physiotherapists to communicate how they are adopting the principles of the Clinical Framework when treating injured workers.

The new TMP was developed by industry stakeholders and is endorsed by the WA Branch of the Australian Physiotherapy Association.
