Noise induced hearing loss tests

It is important for employers to be aware of their obligations to arrange and pay for baseline and subsequent hearing tests for all workers in a prescribed “noisy” workplace. Employers are required to use testers approved by WorkCover WA and the testing environment and equipment must meet Australian Standards.

Under the Workers’ Compensation and Injury Management Act 1981 (the Act), only audiometric officers, audiometrists, audiologists and medical practitioners approved by WorkCover WA, may conduct and register audiometric tests to be used for the purposes of the Act.

When booking hearing tests, employers must ensure a workers’ compensation audiometric test is arranged, as required by WorkCover WA. For further information on noise induced hearing loss, click here.
