October is Safe Work Month – ‘Be a Safety Champion’

This month is Safe Work Month and WorkCover WA is encouraging all workplaces to have a discussion with staff about the health benefits of an early and safe return to work for injured workers.

Research shows the longer an injured worker is away from work, the less likely they are to return which can have a negative impact on the worker, their employer and the workplace.

To help employers better understand their obligations and the benefits of injury management, WorkCover WA has prepared a free presentation slide pack and notes to help generate discussion in the workplace. The presentation is suitable for:

  • Injury Management Coordinators
  • OSH Managers and OSH Officers
  • HR Managers and HR Officers
  • Managers and Supervisors
  • Safety and Health Representatives and OSH Committees
  • Anyone else at the workplace with responsibility for workplace safety, claims and injury management.

The theme of Safe Work Month this year is ‘Be a Safety Champion’ which is a reminder that everyone has a role to play in workplace safety.
