WorkCover WA hosts Singaporean delegation

WorkCover WA recently hosted a delegation from the Singapore Government’s Ministry of Manpower. The visit was the final stop in a study trip which saw the delegation visit workers’ compensation and occupational health and safety regulators in Canberra, Melbourne and Adelaide. As many of the study group were recently appointed members to Singapore’s Workplace Safety and Health Council, they came to learn about Australian workplace safety standards, workers’ compensation schemes and return to work programs, with an emphasis on the building and construction industry.

The delegation attended presentations by WorkCover WA, WorkSafe WA, the Department of State Development and the President of the Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (AFOEM) covering the Western Australian experience and the health benefits of good work.

Mr Patrick Han, Executive Director of the Workplace Safety and Health Council, remarked that the group particularly enjoyed the opportunity to make site visits to Perth Stadium and Work Health Group’s Rehabilitation Centre.

Representatives from the Ministry previously visited WorkCover WA in 2015.
